Attention
*Each certificate is 200 yen for current students. (After graduation, each certificate is 300 yen, but 200 yen will be charged from the date of graduation (completion) or withdrawal until the end of that month. However, a Health Checkup Report is 300 yen per piece, and a Student Discount Certificate (“Gakuwari”, only in Japanese) is free of charge.

Certificates that can be issued by Certificate issuing machine

Various types of certificates, such as Certificate of Enrollment, transcripts, and Student Discount Certificate, can be issued without going to the School/Graduate School office by using the Certificate issuing machine. If you are able to come to the campus, please use the Certificate issuing machine for certificates that can be issued by the machine.

Attention
*The start date for issuing Certificate of Expected Graduation (Completion) and Transcript of Academic Record and Certificate of Expected Graduation (Completion) is June 1 (spring semester) and November 1 (fall semester) of the year of graduation. The issuance of these certificates will be suspended for one to two weeks prior to the start date due to the judgment process. Please check the information provided by the School/Graduate School regarding the suspension period.
*If you are asked by a company or other organization during your job hunting activities to submit a document such as a Certificate of Expected Graduation (Completion) before the start date of issuance, please tell them that the start date of issuance for WASEDA University is fixed and you cannot submit it before that date. In the majority of cases, there is no problem if you submit your application after the start date. Please refer to the Career Center website for the documents required for job hunting activities.
*If you are currently enrolled at WASEDA University, you can use the Certificate issuing machine to issue your most recent certificate as a regular student. For example, if you graduated from the School of Political Science and Economics and are currently enrolled in the Master’s Program at the Graduate School of Economics, you can use your current Graduate School of Economics student ID card to issue a certificate for your time at the School of Political Science and Economics.

    *You cannot use the Certificate issuing machine after returning your student ID card.
  • Password for MyWaseda
    *You will be able to use MyWaseda from the day after you complete the MyWaseda initial setup or ID renewal procedure.
  • Certificate issuance fee
    *After graduation, the fee is 300 yen per letter, but from the date of graduation (completion) or withdrawal until the end of the month, the fee is 200 yen.

Online Certificate Application (currently only in Japanese)

[Important Notice]
2021/9/9 Certificate of Enrollment, GPA Certificate and Certificate of Withdrawal are now available for online application.
*Online Application System is currently only in Japanese.

[For current students who will graduate or complete their studies in September 2021]
– “Certificate of Graduation” will be available for application from September 15. Please apply as a “current student” from September 15 to September 30. (Please note that if you apply as a “graduate/withdrawal”, the graduate fee (300 yen per application) will be applied. Please note that applications are expected to be very busy during the month of September, and it may take longer than usual to ship your application.
– It is not possible to apply for a “Certificate of Expected Graduation” through this system.

[For those who wish to ship overseas]
Due to the global spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, some overseas mail services have been suspended.
Please check the Japan Post website for information on the availability and delay of delivery for each country and region.
If you wish to send your documents to a country that does not accept EMS, please contact the office of the School/Graduate School.
If you apply online to send your documents to a country that does not accept EMS, we will send your documents by an alternative mailing method (e.g. international registered mail). Please note that the alternative method may take longer to arrive than EMS.
Please note that even if the alternative shipping method is cheaper than the one you have paid for, we will not be able to refund the difference.

Delivery Method

The certificate will be sent by mail.

  • For domestic mailing, it takes about one week from the receipt of the application to the arrival of the certificate. Please note that even if you request express delivery, the timing of shipment will remain the same, but the number of mailing days will be shortened, so please allow one week for delivery.
  • For overseas mailing, it will be sent via EMS. Please note that postal conditions may vary by country or region.
  • Please note that certificates cannot be sent as a PDF file.
  • Please note that you can select one mailing address per application. If you wish to have your certificate mailed to more than one address, please apply again (payment of various fees is required each time).
  • Please note that it may take some time to issue certificates due to administrative workload. We do not issue or mail certificates for online applications on Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, or during the summer and winter holidays. If you wish to have your certificate issued before the holidays, please apply as soon as possible.

What you need to apply

  • 1) Identity verification documents (data)

Please upload the image data of your official ID (student ID (current students only), driver’s license, residence card, passport). Please prepare the image data using a smartphone, digital camera, scanner, etc. Acceptable file formats are as follows.

Payment can only be made by credit card (JCB, VISA, Master Card, American Express).

Fee

  • For each application, you will need to pay a certificate issuance fee (200 yen per certificate), postage (including overseas express delivery fees, etc.), and a system use charge (450 yen).
  • If you wish to have your certificate strictly sealed, you will need to pay a flat fee of 100 yen.
  • Once payment has been completed, the certificate issuance fee, postage (including express delivery fee), and system use charge will not be refunded for any reason whatsoever.
  • No receipts will be issued for certificates issued through the online application system.
Important note on fees
The online certificate application system controls the certificate issuance fee (current students: 200 yen, graduates: 300 yen) according to the selection of “current student/graduate” at the time of application. Please note that no refunds will be made for errors in applications. For those who have just graduated or withdrawn, please note that you will be treated as a “current student” from the date of graduation or withdrawal until the end of the month.

 

Example Graduation on March 15 ⇒ 200 yen per copy until application on March 31 Select “Current Student”.

Other Notes

  • If you need certificates from more than one department (School /Graduate School), you can apply for them all at once (up to 3 courses).
  • The maximum number of applications per application is 10 in total. If you wish to apply for more than the limit, please apply again. Please note that the system usage fee must be paid each time.
