About the GEC
GEC offers various courses to form the foundation for students’ learning, which includes academic writing, mathematics, data science, information and English that are essential to all students regardless of their field of study. Also, available to any undergraduate students, the Minor system enables acquisition of a second field of expertise to complement your undergraduate major. In addition, GEC also offers wide range of courses such as physical education, fieldwork courses in and outside of Japan and collaboration courses with other universities that are sure to fulfill your intellectual curiosity.
Partnership with museums and art galleries
To provide opportunities for students to have a first-hand practical learning experiences, GEC has some partnership with museums and art galleries which enables students to access these institutions with a free/discounted admission fee. For details, please access the respective websites [1].
Partnership programs with: National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo National Museum and National Museum of Arts.
Minor system
Aside from students’ major field of study, the Minor system offers students a chance to pursue a number of specific theme.

STEP1 Read the Course Guide Thoroughly
▶Review the details of the system and the content of the minor carefully.
STEP2 Create a Course Registration Plan
▶Plan your coursework in advance to ensure completion of the minor.
STEP3 Course Registration
▶Carefully review the registration period and registration procedures.
For designated courses, the offering department and course section numbers are specified.
Please note that courses not listed as designated courses will not be accepted as fulfilling the minor completion requirements.
As enrollment may be limited and you may not be able to register for your preferred courses, plan your course schedule well in advance.
STEP4 Take the Designated Courses
STEP5 Confirm the Status of Credits Earned for Designated Minor Subjects
▶Repeat Steps 3 through 5 until you have earned the required number of credits for the minor.
STEP6 Apply for Intent to Complete the Minor
▶Students must have earned at least 8 credits in designated subjects (6 credits for “Accounting”) at the time of application.
STEP7 Fulfill All Requirements to Complete the Minor
▶To complete the minor, students must earn all required credits, submit an applicationindicating their intent to complete the minor, and graduate from their major department.
