01_Overview of the Version Upgrade
Purpose of the Upgrade
This version upgrade is intended to achieve the following objectives:
- Improve service stability and accommodate high-volume access
- Enhance security
- Support high-resolution and larger video content
- Improve usability for both teachers and students
Video Data Migration Policy
As part of this version upgrade, video data will be migrated to the new environment. However, only videos that are expected to remain in use will be migrated.
Specifically, videos meeting either of the following conditions will be included in the migration:
- Videos currently used as On-Demand Videos in regular courses offered in AY2023 or later, and in non-regular courses (including Trial course) regardless of academic year.
- Videos uploaded to the Media List on or after April 1, 2023, even if they are not currently used as On-Demand Videos
The scope of videos included in and excluded from the migration is summarized below.

(1) Videos used as On-Demand Videos in regular-course sites offered in AY2022 or earlier (see Note 1)
(2) Videos that are not currently used as On-Demand Videos and were uploaded to the Media List on or before March 31, 2023
Note 1:
To maintain consistency with “Waseda Moodle data evacuation (archiving)” introduced in AY2024, this upgrade will migrate only data from the most recent four academic years.
Previously, videos used as On-Demand Videos in courses that had been archived could still be accessed through the Media List. As part of this upgrade, such videos will be removed from the Media List.
Schedule
The version upgrade is scheduled to be carried out in late December 2026.
