GS Center (Gender and Sexuality Center)

Features of the GS Center

The GS Center is the home of Waseda University’s LGBTQ+ students and allies (their supporters), as well as a free space that is open to anyone interested in gender and sexuality. The GS Center offers the following four main services; please check the website for detailed information on each.

  • Individual counseling: Our gender and sexuality specialty staff members provide individual counseling to help you address issues related to gender and sexuality. Services are confidential, so your privacy is protected. When appropriate and with your consent, referrals for on-and off-campus resources will be made.
  • Community space: Our semi-open community space is a safer space where you can hang out, eat snacks, work on class assignments, or chat, connect, and exchange information about issues related to gender and sexuality with other users of the GS Center, as well as with our student staff and staff members.
  • Library space: Our library has a wide variety of relatively recently published books and DVDs on issues related to gender and sexuality for you to enjoy at the GS Center. Books are available for borrowing as well. Leaflets and event flyers from other organizations on-and off-campus are also available for browsing in the GS Center.
  • Events: Our student staff members, in collaboration with staff members, plan and run small-and medium-scale events for students, and large-scale events open to the public, to create opportunities for learning about topics related to gender and sexuality, raising awareness, exchanging ideas, making connections among participants, and interacting with guest speakers.
