The main types of scholarships for Japanese Equivalent Students are Waseda University’s own internal scholarships and external scholarships such as Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) scholarships, local government scholarships, and private organization scholarships. There are two types of scholarships: loan-type scholarships that must be repaid after graduation and benefit-type scholarships that do not require repayment.
As a general rule, students who wish to apply for scholarships are required to complete a “Scholarship Registration” every year. Scholarship registration is a procedure that must be completed once a year (at the time of enrollment for the first year, and every April thereafter). All applicants for scholarships must register for scholarships every year, except for scholarships that are awarded on an ongoing basis such as JASSO scholarships etc. Please refer to the scholarship information booklet “Challenge”(Only in Japanese) and check the information about the registration methods and schedules.
